After the tax deadline we can all breathe a sigh of relief, but you may still have some lingering questions about the status of your refund. We have no control over when government agencies issue refunds. See below for the best ways to check your refund status.
To check your federal refund status please visit IRS Refund. The IRS website states:
The IRS issues most refunds in less than 21 days, although some require additional time.
You should only call if it has been:
- 21 days or more since you e-filed
- 6 weeks or more since you mailed your return
- or when “Where’s My Refund” tells you to contact the IRS
To check your state refund status please visit the states’s Department of Revenue website.
